Description The 2012 Amgen Bay Area BioGENEius Challenge is open for submission! Students in grades 9-12 can enter their life science/biotech-related regional fair projects as long as they meet the criteria listed on the competition web site (http://www.biotechinstitute.org/node/1445). •Submission Deadline: March 21, 2012. •Challenge Date: April 19, 2012. For the first time, the 2012 Bay Area BioGENEius Challenge includes a full day of programming: • Posters available for viewing by Gladstone Institute employees • On-site lunch at Mission Bay • Afternoon awards ceremony and career panel • Networking reception. Prizes!!! Bay Area BioGENEius Awards: 1st place, $2000; 2nd place, $1000; 3rd place, $500. One year family membership to the California Academy of Sciences for the top 3 winners. First and Second place winners and their mentors receive an all-expense paid trip to compete against other regional winners at the U.S. National BioGENEius Challenge, held in Boston, MA, on June 17, 2012 in conjunction with the BIO International Convention. U.S. National winners compete in the International BioGENEius Challenge on June 18th; the awards ceremony is June 19th. International awards: 1st place: $7,500; 2nd place $5,000; 3rd place $2,500; 4th place $1,000; Honorable Mention, $500
Help Needed The BayBio Institute is looking for: •STEM professionals to judge student posters and presentations the day of the Challenge; 8:30AM-2PM. •STEM professionals of all career levels and types for an afternoon career panel; 2PM-4:30PM. Contact: sheryl@baybio.org
