STEM Professionals Profile
I completed my Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology and Master's degree in Environmental Engineering in India before moving to California in July 2011. My husband is a post-doctoral scholar at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
I have been in love with science as far as I can remember. An extremely curious (and nosy) student, I was one of those nerds who loved to ask and answer questions in class. I spent a lot of time trying to learn new facts and figure out how things work. I loved explaining fun facts about science and simplifying concepts for my friends in college.
In an attempt to share my interest in fun science facts, I propose to take a short course on 'miracles and mysteries of the living world' at the Bechtel International Center at Stanford.
I volunteered to teach english for underprivileged children at a non-profit organization and enjoyed every minute I spent with them. I currently volunteer as a tutor for Reading Partners, a children's literacy organization. I also volunteer as a science and math tutor at EPATT, an after school tutoring program at Stanford University.
The thing that I love most about tutoring children is that they are open to new ideas and thoughts when encouraged and that I learn as much from them as they do from me.
I am a very friendly and easy-going person with a sense of humor and an infectious curiosity.
