When young people have the chance to put math and science theory into practice, you can literally see their interest ignite. Our children have too little of these opportunities. That’s why afterschool programs and efforts like National Lab Day are so important. Whether building a robot, designing a video game or testing local waters for pollutants, afterschool programs give kids the kinds of hands-on learning opportunities that engage them and build critical STEM skills.
