The future innovation and competitiveness of our state and nation are critically dependent upon individuals with strong science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM skills. Collectively, we share responsibility for encouraging students interest, achievement, and success in these fields for our long-term prosperity. I am most pleased to support the efforts of National Lab Day, as these activities play a key role in not only raising awareness of the importance of STEM education generally, but also because they encourage student engagement in these critical disciplines.
