Science, technology, engineering and math education are critical to our goal to prepare every student to graduate from high school ready for a career, college or technical training. These are the skills students need to compete in the 21st century global workforce.

National Lab Day is a wonderful way to raise awareness about STEM education and engage not only our students, but also our teachers, parents and the community. I encourage schools from Murphy to Manteo to utilize this terrific opportunity to create meaningful and hands-on STEM projects that motivate and excite our students. These students will be the innovators, creators, entrepreneurs and civic leaders of North Carolina’s and the world’s future.
